Title: Trump Style Negotiation--Powerful Strategies and Tactics for Mastering Every Deal
Abstract:
Negotiation is what we do from birth till death. When we are young, we negotiate for food and fun stuff. When we grow older, we negotiate for social respect, whether in school or in shopping mall. When we start working, we negotiate for salary and business deals. When we have family, we negotiate with our spouse and our kids. When we becomes senior citizen, we negotiate with our peers about various factoids. After we die, our kids negotiate for our heritage with the revenue department about, obviously, tax.
So, negotiation is not just for business or sale people. It is a part of our life. We may do it consciously or unconsciously. Yet, a lot of people find negotiation too illusive. They try to avoid negotiating, if possible. In this lecture, we shall attack negotiation in a systematic way. We shall make it easier to understand, so that the audience will at least find it interesting, and, hopefully, adopt all or a part of the lecture for future negotiation.
There are various negotiation styles. The most common ones are 'winner-take-all' and 'compromising'. This lecture focuses on the latter one. In particular, we shall talk about "Trump-Style Negotiation". This style does not focus solely on benefit, but also on building good relationship and creating satisfaction for both sides. Negotiators would gain good reputation which is highly beneficial in a long run. The lecture is based mainly on the book "Trump-Style Negotiation: Powerful Strategies and Tactics for Mastering Every Deal" by George H. Ross. The audience may find the summary and review of the book at http://whatILearnFromReading.com.
