Based on the idea of the Board Chair, in the process to prepare the "Road Map" of AIT with a consensus destination as a guiding post for the new President, a key factor to the success of this exercise is the participation of the faculty and staff.
In order for AIT to have focused areas, 5 themes (food, energy, environment, infrastructure and ICT) have been identified based on matching regional demands with available strengths of AIT. Thus there is a need for all schools to indicate how each FOS (Program) fits into one or more of these themes. Then there must be a plan and the corresponding required resources (human, funds and support facilities).
At this time, the Board Chair wishes to see the big picture of human resources (faculty and students), available today and to be expected in the next 3 to 5 years span, in each field (program). Then it is the responsibility of the Board and the new President to look into how the other needed resources (namely funding and support facilities) can be secured to make the road map achievable.
With this email, I have attached a 4-year history of faculty and students. In the first worksheet, the faculty strength includes full-time faculty as well as part-time adjunct and short-term visiting faculty. In the second worksheet, faculty strength includes only full-time faculty whose contract is at least 1 year so they can supervise student research.
Could the respective Dean kindly discuss with the field/program coordinators to fill in the figures for 2014-2016? The required data should be returned to Dr Greg within a week. Dr Greg has been assigned to do the follow-up of this matter and is willing to meet you if you have any query.
