AIT Scholarship Opportunities from NMFA and Sida for Myanmar Candidates


Dear AIT faculty, staff, students and alumni,

I am pleased to inform you about the upcoming scholarship opportunities for Myanmar candidates supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA). Through its Embassy in Bangkok, the Ministry expressed its intention to offer up to 120 scholarships to qualified Myanmar candidates to study at AIT during the 2012-2014 period (40 scholarships each batch) in order to get a master?s degree. In addition, the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) will also offer scholarships for Myanmar candidates through its annual scholarship program with AIT and jointly work with AIT and NMFA in the recruitment process in Myanmar.

The proposed scholarship program aims at addressing the needs for capacity building and human resources development, to foster the socioeconomic changes at all level in Myanmar. Consequently, the program will target candidates from different sectors and professional backgrounds who are committed to contributing to the development of Myanmar. Official announcement as well as the application information is provided in the attached document.

I would highly appreciate your help in disseminating this information through your contacts and affiliation in order to reach, as much as possible, prospective candidates from all sectors.

Please also be informed that AIT in coordination with the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok will organize a press conference in Yangon, Myanmar to officially make a call for application. Deadline for application of this scholarship program is 31 March 2012. The press conference will be held on Friday, 9 March 2012 at the Traders Hotel in Yangon during 2:30 ? 4:30 pm.
